Race Rules and Regulations

Runners must complete the course on foot by their own power and ability within the stipulated time.

Registration

Runners should register at RaceYaya.com .  By registering, runners must comply with pre-registration requirements which includes: 1)Submission of verifiable Qualifying Race if applicable for your category; 2) Payment of registration fee and timely submission of proof of payment via RaceYaya.com account; 3) Compliance with medical certificate requirements on due date.  Slots are only confirmed after payment.

Race Kit Issuance

Race kit claiming will start on Saturday, September 9, at 10 am-4pm and 7pm-9pm.  Runners should have complied with their registration requirements before the Race Bib is issued.  Check out your names in the start list to be published a month before the race.  Please present the following upon claiming of kit:

1)  Valid ID with birthdate.  This should bear the same name as your registered name on the application form.  Please check the start list published in the website before race day to validate your entry details.  For concerns, please send us an email.

2) Signed Waiver

Mandatory Gears

By entering the race, each runner undertakes to bring with him/her all the mandatory items as listed below throughout the race. Failure to do so will result in application of the time penalties or disqualification at the discretion of the race organizer.

1)  Working headlamp/torch light.   During the day, this item may be stored in the drop bag.  It is the runner’s responsibility to have the headlamp/torch light from dusk to dawn.

2)  Reflective vest worn during night time running;

3)  Water bottle with a minimum capacity of 13 ounces /350ml;

4) Foldable cup or other container suitable for drinking at the water station (may be the same as item 3). Note that there will be no cups at aid stations.

Runner must check in between 10 am – 4pm and 7pm-9pm to present their gears.  Random check will be conducted during the race and time penalty and DQ may be imposed.

RACEYaya Timing Bracelet

  • Should always be worn; only the finish line marshal can remove it.
  • This must be surrendered at the Finish Line. Failure to do so would result to disqualification.
  • Runners who DNF should remove the timing bracelet after submitting themselves for DNF status.
  • RUNNERS have the responsibility to submit themselves for CHECK-IN at designated time checkpoint stations.

RACE Bib

  • Should always be worn in front and should be visible.

Drop Bags

  • There will be two drop bag stations:–AS 5 for 50K and 100 K (Sacobia Intersection which you will pass at 27K, 33k and 42k approximately)–Start/Finish Line Area for 100 K (50K)
    • Drop bags may be deposited from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, September 9. Please label your drop bag prominently with your name and bib number.
    • Drop bags should not be larger than 12″ x 18″.
    • Please do NOT leave any valuables, such as keys, iPods, cell phones, and jewelry in your drop bag.
    • Clark Ultramarathon is NOT responsible for the loss of any drop bag and any spoilage.

Not Allowed:

  • Trekking poles
  • Pacers
  • Muling (Carrying other runners’ stuff or gear while the race is in progress)
  • Outside support (except at designated areas at AS 5 and at the Start/Finish Line)
  • Support vehicle
  • Running in two/groups (see item number 4 below)

RUNNER’S RESPONSIBILITIES

1)   Runners must understand the unique nature and requirements of competing in an ultra-long distance road race.  He/she must have undertaken the necessary training to compete in such a race.

2)   Runners should be self-reliant and will be responsible for his/her own safety by having the ability and skills to self-diagnose and deal with any problems that may be encountered during a race of this nature.

3)  Runners must be able to take care of himself without any external assistance, under deteriorating weather conditions (e.g. rain, strong winds, hot, dry and humid weather,) and other unforeseen circumstances that may arise while the race is in progress.

5)  Runners must be able to deal with his/her extreme fatigue, digestive problems, muscle pain, mild physical injuries and other discomforts during the race.

6)   Runners who accept assistance and support from any person who is not an official race organizer may be disqualified.  Support crew will be allowed only at Sacobia Intersection (AS7,9,11), El Kabayo (AS4/6) and start/finish line area.  Support crew should assist the runner at the designated tent.  Runners are not allowed to leave the AS area or approach their support vehicle.

6)  Runners should run on the official race course.  In case a runner gets lost, he/she should go back to the proper course.  In no case shall the distance outside the race course be considered valid.

7)    In the event of a runner assisting another runner who is in need of emergency aid, he/she must inform the nearest aid station or race organizer for medical assistance.

8) Runners are responsible to ensure they pass all time checkpoint. List will be announced during the briefing and signages will be in place. Failure to do so would mean time penalty and/or disqualification.

9) Runners should respect marshals doing Mandatory Gear check at any time during the race.  They will have special ID to identify them.  Time penalty will be served. Runners may be asked to discontinue should they incur two gear check violations.

MAXIMUM RACE TIME PERMITTED AND CUTOFF TIMES

The maximum time allotted for completion of the race is:

  • 50KM – 10 Hours
  • 100KM – 18 Hours (50KM Cut-off: 9 hours)
  • 100KM RELAY – 18 Hours (50KM Cut-off: 9 hours)

Runners should leave the AS at 50K within an hour after check-in.  AS at 50K will be closed at 4am and runners who fail to leave the AS will be disqualified.

In the event of poor weather conditions and/or for safety reasons, the organizers reserve the right to suspend the race or modify the race course at the discretion of the race organizer.

DNF (Did not Finish) PROCEDURES

1)    Runner who decides to pull out or discontinue voluntarily must proceed to the nearest checkpoint.

2)  Runner who fails to notify the organizers immediately, thereby setting in motion a search and rescue operation by the organizer’s rescue team will be liable to pay for the entire cost thereof.

3)  Runners who fail to arrive at the checkpoints within the stipulated cut-off times will not be allowed to continue.

CONTEST

Complaints, especially on the podium finishers, must be made in writing with sufficient proof and should be submitted to the race organizer before the awarding ceremony. Post-race feedbacks or complaints may be emailed to clarkultramarathon@gmail.com with sufficient proof. Any online or social media protest will not be entertained.

CHANGES TO THE ROUTE, CUT-OFF TIMES AND CANCELLATION OF THE RACE

1)    The organizer reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to make changes to the route and checkpoints/water station points or to the cut-off times.

2)  In the event of adverse weather conditions, the race may be postponed or delayed.

IMAGE RIGHTS

Each participant expressly foregoes his/her image rights for the photos taken for the duration of the race and undertakes not to take any action against the organizers.
